The decision was made on the basis of the recommendations from the Danish Prime Minister and DIF (The Danish Sport Federation) regarding COVID-19.
The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, presented new guidelines regarding COVID-19 (corona) at a press conference on Friday, March 6. The Danish Health Authority advice that all events with more than 1,000 participants or events with a high risk of disease spreading are cancelled or postponed. And with 20 teams from different countries the Qufora Egmont Open is in the latter of the two categories. The new guidelines are introduced to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Qufora Egmont Open organization naturally follows the guidelines of the authorities in respect of the safety of the players, staff, officials and volunteers.
We are sad and very sorry that we must postpone the tournament to 2021 as we have spent countless of hours in planning this event. In order to make sure the hours are not spent in vain, we have therefore already booked the Egmont Folk school for 2021 😊
We hope that many of the teams who were planning on attending the 2020 edition will sign up for the 2021 version.
We will be reaching out to all teams who have already paid the tournament fee and explain how we will refund the fee.

TOURNAMENT IN 2025
We are delighted to announce that we will be back with Qufora Egmont Open in 2025, please reserve the 4-6 of April 2025.
Please also ask your national federation to keep the dates clear from other events.
Final invitation with more details will be out on the 1st of September.
No tournament in 2024
Dear rugby friends
The Qufora Egmont Open organization has decided not to host a tournament in 2024 and it will earliest be in 2025. It’s with regret that we announce this as our first intension was to host a tournament in 2024. We need to gather some energy after some major wheelchair rugby events over the last couple of years. And we are also looking for ways to get a more solid financial foundation, so we can secure that the tournament is affordable for as many as possible.
If you have any questions, please fell free to ask them.
Yours in sports,
Qufora Egmont Open organization
Postponed deadlines
Dear rugby friends
The Qufora Egmont Open organization follows the development of the Corona virus. We understand that many of you are insecure on what will happen with the pandemic in the near term. In Denmark new restrictions were implemented last week.
However, we are confident that the tournament will take place and when it does, we will have proper guidelines according to the policies of the authorities, all with due respect to the safety of the players, staff, officials and volunteers.
When we had to cancel the tournament in 2020, we refunded all your money, and we will do the same again if we need to.

Dear team, officials, volunteers and others
We are sad and deeply sorry to announce that we must postpone the Qufora Egmont Open 2021 to 2022, but at this point there is still too much uncertainty about the whole COVID19 situation.
We will send out new dates as soon as possible, and we want Qufora Egmont Open 2022 to take place in the spring. We wish to use the extra time for excellent planning of the event!
We hope that you all are safe and well out there! We are looking forward to meeting with you for some good Wheelchair rugby.

The Danish rugby club Århus Kørestolsrugby (Århus Wheelchair Rugby) celebrated its 10 year anniversary by hosting Egmont Open on the 6th-8th of April, and the tournament was without a doubt the biggest event in its history as 12 clubs and national teams from most of Europe competed.
The teams were split into two different groups according to strength. The English teams dominated at the very top. The West Coast Crash team who had several players from the English national team won the tournament, with the London Wheelchair Rugby Club coming in at a second place. In the second group Viborg with the Finnish national team players Mauri and Tuuka won against Århus.
